Gidgee goodness! – HNT Gordon Jack Plane

Terry Gordon is a plane maker from Alstonville, in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales.  Terry makes wood planes from Australian timber, designed for Australian timber.   The high blade angle reduces tear-out in the difficult Australian hardwoods.  The blades are massively thick and rigid, and hold a sharp edge.  They make look old fashioned, but Terry’s planes are gems – they work beautifully well, they are a joy to use, and they look great.  Terry makes most of his planes from Gidgee – an Australian acacia that grows in arid regions.  The wood is hard, stable, and beautiful.

The plane above is the most recent of my HNT Gordon planes.  I have four of Terry’s planes so far, and I ‘need’ more.  Check out Terry’s website here…
